By the end of October I get that empty feeling deep inside me. I fear I did not get to celebrate Oktoberfest to the fullest and I worry about
my running milage decreasing because winter is just around the corner. The Fat Dog 10 Miler will give you that opportunity to run hard and celebrate
Oktoberfest at the same time. We have assembled a dream team to create a race that is fun to run and oozes a German athmosphere.
Our German racedirector put together a well organized and well supported race on a challenging 10 Mile course through Adamstown and the Berks countryside.
Stoudts Brewing Company is opening their beerhall to all our runners for the Oktoberfest style post race party and is serving their award winning beer.
Linda and Thekla, our professional (pastry)chef duo you feed you post race with German artisan pastries, brats and German potatoe salad. Entertainment at the post race
party is provided by Don Bitterlich , aka "Uberhans", Amerika's toughest accordion player and former Kicker of the Seattle Seahawks and the German dancegroup of the Reading Liederkranz.
As always we have our imported German weatherhouse agegroup awards, but also can win prices for best German costume or win the cuckoo clock raffle.
Did your legs get nervous and you became thirsty while you read this? Wait no longer and sign up for the Fat Dog 10 Miler , powered by Stoudts Brewing company.
Course:
Race starts and finishes at Stoudtburg Village next to Stoudts Brewery. It runs through Adamstown, the antique capital of the world and continues on towards the Berks Countyside, where you will encounter many rolling hills. At mile 7 you will meet the Downhill from Hell , which is so steep at points , you have to lean backwards.
Warning: This course features plenty of elevation and is not designed to brake your 10 Mile PR. The difficulty of this race is a few steps up from flat 10 Milers like the Broadstreet 10 Miler in Philadelphia. So no whining, start training.

Agegroup awards are quite unique (pic shows 2011 award). These
awards come from the Black Forest of Germany. They
are german weather houses. They can predict future weather
pretty much as reliable as "Glen Hurrican Schwarz" . Here is
how they work:
There is a gut string inside which reacts to all
changes in air humidity. Depending on wether the air is dry or humid,
the gut string changes it's position and twists more or less, so that
the female turns outside when it is dry (predicting nice weather) and
the male, when it is humid.
